House of Representatives has summoned the Director General of the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), Alex Ndubuisi Nwegbu over the recent earth tremors in some parts of Kaduna State.
He is expected to brief members on the tremor that occurred in Jaba Local Government of Kaduna State.
According to the House, the DG would provide seismic report on the magnitude of the tremor in the local government and any other area threatened by such developments.
This follows a motion by Sunday Marshall Katung, through which the House also urged the Federal Ministry of Environment to ascertain the level of destruction as well as reclaim all damaged areas.
The House also urged the federal government to carry out an in-depth investigation to determine the immediate and remote cause(s) of the tremor and/or earthquake in order to arrest future occurrence in the area in particular and the country in general, and further that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) immediately provide relief materials for victims.”
