Kaduna To Host Finals Of BSL, Africa Beach Soccer Championship

It is now official that Kaduna State will be hosting the finals of the Beach Soccer Leaque (BSL) and the maiden edition of the Africa Beach Soccer championship in June this year.

And ahead of the leaque final and Africa Beach Soccer Championship to be hosted in Nigeria which is organized by the African Beach Soccer Union (ABSU), the leadership of ABSU has paid a working visit on Kaduna state government.

The courtesy visit was led by the president of the ABSU, Alhaji Mahmud Hadeja was among others to commend Kaduna State government for the approval to host the finals of the Beach soccer Leaque and also the African beach soccer championship.

During the visit which was climaxed with inspection of the beach soccer pitch and facility at the Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna State Commissioner of Sports Development, Hon. Idris Samaila Nyam said. Kaduna State is ready to host the best ever beach soccer game.

He described Governor Nasir el-Rufai as a sports lover and Kaduna being the headquarters of sports in Nigeria haven produced the best of athletes.

‘Kaduna State is ready to host both the finals of the beach soccer Leaque and the first edition of the African Beach Soccer championship, the Governor has given his approval and we are committed to it” he assured.

On his part, ABSU President Alhaji Hadeja said, “Well l think it is a welcome development, just like I said the beach soccer is moving in the right direction, the coming together of the African beach soccer union in 2020 is something which I think is a good thing for Africa.

“And we made a commitment in our last AGA in December last year to host the first African beach soccer union competition so that we will have regular competitions in Africa because we lack them and by God’s grace African beach soccer union has given Nigeria the hosting rights and we are working closely with Kaduna State government through the ministry of Sports Development to see how we can make that possible, Kaduna now has a sitting beach soccer stadium one of the best we have in Africa if not across the world I can confidently say that.

‘’We have wonderful facilities there that can host world championships and we want to make use of that facilities and our African brothers and other teams coming here to have such competition in Nigeria will certainly enjoy the best of beach soccer” he said.

No fewer than six African countries including Nigeria are expected to participate in the Africa Beach Soccer championship.
