Residents of Shagari Estate in Barnawa, Kaduna have lamented  lack of trash cans for proper dumping of refuse in the environment.
Some of the residents said dumping of refuse around the environment is not hygienic to human health, saying environmental safety is not guaranteed if refuse is not properly disposed.
One of the residents identified as Parish Walbe, stated that there has been series of warnings and notices for people to stop dumping refuse around the estate environs but all that could not put an end to the act.
Adding that, throwing  such around residential areas can cause flood which may lead to destruction of lives and property.
On his part, one Mr Daniel John, who was spotted disposing his waste bin in the said area, stated categorically that they have been dumping refuse around the environment because they have no other place to dispose it.
He complained that; “Some of us usually pay baban bola to pack our refuse and throw them away, which we don’t even know where exactly they take it to and it costs us money”
They however, reiterated that in order to reduce the high levels of refuse in Barnawa and Kaduna State at large, the government should provide  trash cans for the people.
