Kaduna Police Command Consolidating Interagency Collaboration Towards Control Of Illicit Arms – CP

In an effort to strengthen multi-stakeholder collaboration in ensuring an arms-free Nigeria, the Zonal Coordinator of the Northwest geopolitical zone of the National Center for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), Air Vice Marshall Haruna Umar Mohammed (rtd)  has paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police Kaduna State Command, CP Yekini A. Ayoku psc(+), mni, on Wednesday   November 9,  2022.

A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Muhammed Jalige, dated November 10, said that 

the Zonal Coordinator and his entourage who were warmly received by the Commissioner of Police stressed that their visit was in view of the pivotal role the Nigeria Police Force plays in providing security including recovery of illicit Small Arms and Light Weapons. 

Thus, he said, the center deemed it expedient to share collaborative efforts with especially the Nigeria Police Force in this national task.

In his response, CP Ayoku reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has always been at the forefront of promoting interagency collaboration, with both governmental and non-governmental outfits.

He further noted that the mandate of the center being the promotion of an arms-free society and prevention and control of proliferation of small arms and light weapons is very germane and critical in view of the nations contemporary security issues.  

He therefore, assured the Zonal Coordinator of robust synergy as well as continuous support from the Police through consistent mopping up of illegal firearms and weapons as part of our operational strategies. 

CP Ayoku who received the Zonal Coordinator along with his Management Team, observed that proliferation of small arms and light weapons has been a major enabler and driver of crime and criminalities and hence the need for all hands to be on deck towards the elimination of such illegal arms from circulation cannot be overemphasized in furtherance of the concerted efforts being made to keep the country safe and secured.
