A JSS3 student of Government Secondary School, Sabon Tasha Kaduna was on this morning chased and apprehended by angry residents of Sabon Tasha GRA, Kaduna after he was caught attempting to make away with some pieces of corrugated roofing sheets.
The residents caught Haruna Peter after a hot chase that attracted several members of the community who are angry that thieves had been dispossessing them of their valuables.
An eyewitness explained that they saw the accused enter an uncompleted building and made way with the roofing sheets which he transferred to another fenced plot of land.
When they attempted to question him, he took to his heels, prompting a hot chase from the witness, who attracted more residents while screaming ‘thief, thief’.
When interviewed, the suspect admitted that he ‘stole’ the sheets.
“I took them from the place they were kept because I thought they were no longer useful,” he explained.
He said he resides with his mother at Ungwan Bulus, a suburb close to where he was apprehended, adding that his father died 10 years ago.
