The running mate to Isa Ashiru, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Dr John Ayuba cast his vote in Southern Kaduna, with a call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the votes of the electorate count.

Speaking to New Nigerian on phone, the PDP gubernatorial running mate said, “There is voter apathy in some of the polling units with the fear of many voters that their votes do not count. However, as the voting progress, eligible voters are coming out in their numbers to cast their votes.”

He expressed delight that the entire exercise is generally peaceful, saying, “trust the people of Southern Kaduna that are peaceful and are determined to ensure a new government takes over in the state on 29th May, 2023, hoping to ensure better things that are meant to bring about peace, unity and development in every nook and cranny of the state.”

He added, “INEC seems to have improved in the distribution of election materials. We are believing that INEC will reflect the wishes of the people in order to ensure Nigerians have faith in the ability of the commission to conduct a free, fair, transparent and credible election in the country.”

An APC chieftain, Mr Francis Kozah commented INEC for conducting a peaceful elections and improving on grey areas observed in the presidential and National Assembly elections.

He explained that in the polling units he visited, all the voting materials were working without any hitches, saying that the exercise was going on smoothly without any problem.

Others who spoke, prayed that INEC would be sincere enough to give Nigerians exactly what they voted for.

They noted the low turn out in some parts of the state may not be unconnected with the ability of INEC to give Nigerians what they voted for.
