As a result of its priorities, from 2017 to 2021, education has received highest budget allocation in Kaduna State.
Making a presentation  at a 2-day Media Strategic Session On Deepening Conversation Barriers To Girl Education  in Zaria on Tuesday,  Istifanus  Akau  of Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL) said that Kaduna’s budgetary allocation to education is impressive.

“Education in Kaduna State retains top priority with high level commitment to.policy reforms,” he said.

He explained that PERL-EC Girl Education support started with  stakeholders engagements in 12 local government areas of Kaduna State as well as partnership with SBMC, PTA, PEA,  before setting up EC and KADBEAM.
“We also facilitated a high level advocacy visit to the Emir of Zazzau to lend  support to girl education,” he explained.
Presenting a paper titled, “Education Reform Context and Policy Environment” he said that PERL also supported SUBEB to develop it’s basic education plan.
He said that following engagements, the state introduced the “Edu-Marshall” who were deployed across the state to enforce compulsory school attendance, combat truancy and return children to school.
