Speaker Kaduna State House of Assembly, Aminu Abdullahi Shagali has assured that they are committed to supporting the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) digitization process to complete within the first quarter of 2018 through their appropriation.
This followed the request made by the management team of the media corporation who solicited for a raise in KSMC’s recurrent expenditure of the 2017 allocation to accommodate, N15 million Naira overhead in supplementary appropriation to ensure merger of Radio, TV and online in the digitization process of the media oufit.
Alhaji Shagali made the commitment when the management team of the KSMC paid him a courtesy visit in his office, saying that, the assembly under his leadership will work hard within its jurisdiction towards ensuring that state media cooperation compete with it counterpart internationally and within the country as well as become one of best broadcasting station in the Northern region.
According to him, information is very vital in whatever anyone is doing especially government’s activities, when government is doing good things without educating their citizenry on what they are doing, it would not yield the desired result.
He noted that they were swooned in as members of the assembly to ensure that things go the right way in Kaduna State and they are doing their best to achieve that by making the interest of the state their own interest.
The speaker while appreciating the KMSC management team for the confidence reposed on them, reassuring them that the Assembly will look into all their requests.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of the KSMC Alhaji Ibrahim Ismail Ahmed said that the biggest issue facing the media corporation right now was the issue of digitization adding that after the whole year of efforts and generous appropriation of the 2016 which went without much achievement in terms of moving the media outfit towards digitization.
The Managing Director stress the need for the KSMC to be truly placed on standing order in the release of monthly overheads to avoid interruption in power and programme.
Alhaji Ahmed called on the state House of Assrmbly to put more emphasis and ensure that all KSMC digitization projects are completed in the first quarter of 2018 as Kaduna state cannot be made great without adequate, efficient, and effective information dissemination.
