A former chairman, Kaduna South Local Government Council of Kaduna State who was a former Special Adviser on Sports, Alhaji Awwal Tafoki, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)   for the Labour Party.

Alhaji Awwal said he is defecting to the Labour Party from the All Progressives Congress with over 3,000  supporters to the party of their choice.

Addressing newsmen in Kaduna on Monday, the former local government chairman said, “We are decamping to the Labour Party because it is the only party in the country that is reckoned with on how best to restore the country to its lost glory and give hope to Nigerians.”

He added, “Nobody needs to tell anyone that is in the country of its present challenges. The issue of insecurity, banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and all forms of social vices are the order of the country thereby, making the lives of Nigerians most miserable and unbearable at the moment.”

According to him, “It is the prayer of every Nigerian and other people residing in the country to experience a new leadership different from what the APC-led government that put Nigerians in the present situation since 2015 to date with all manners of hardship that people are going through. Nigerians need a different approach to its present challenges with every hope of the need to come out from the present problems confronting the country.

“The present ASUU strike that started from February, this year is still on with the government of the day doing little or nothing about the plight of lecturers and students who are made to roam the streets aimlessly. Those that do not have the heart have gone into different forms of social vices in order to make a living. At the moment, the government seems to care less about the situation, which shows that if the ASUU strike could linger to this time, it means the country is in a serious mess that need people with courage and political will to turn things around for good for all Nigerians.”

He opined that with the coming up of the Labour Party, the country seemed to be united beyond religion, tribe or sectional affiliation but thinking about the welfare of the whole country.

He stressed, “It is only in Labour Party that one sees Nigerians as a family devoid of any different. This means that it is only the party that has the technical know how to carry Nigerians along and give them hope of a better tomorrow that Nigerians are yearning for years.

He lamented that the ruling party despite its promises to Nigerians for positive change in the country, it has done nothing but plunged the country into total confusion, division and hatred.
