Kaduna 2022 Sports Festival: Commissioner Approves June 30 Deadline For LGAs Submission Of Reg Forms

The Commissioner of Sports Development Kaduna State, has handed down a June 30 Deadline for the submission of forms for participation from the 23 local government areas in the  state, ahead of its 2022 Kada Sports Festival.

This is aimed at making the state prepare adequately ahead of the 2022 National Sports Festival (NSF), billed for Asaba, Delta State later in the year.

Sports Writers in Kaduna gathered this from a circular issued on Monday June 20, which reminded the LGAs.

The circular which emanated from the office of the Director of Sports (DoS), said the instruction was from the commissioner.

” I write to inform all LGCs that the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Sports Development has approved 30th June, 2022 to be the final day for the submission of all Registration forms for the forthcoming Kaduna State Sports Festival 2022,” it said.

It warned that the Ministry will consider any LGC that did not submit it’s entries on or before this date as  not participating. 

It further informed that the preliminaries for the sports festival will start early in July.

“The preliminaries  will start on the 4th July, 2022 at all centres in all the team sports. Pls treat with despatch. Director of Sports Development, for Commissioner,” the circular said.

Meanwhile, another document sighted by Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN)  Kaduna State Chapter, dated May 12, 2022, had hinted the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government Affairs about the sports festival.

According to that document signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports Development, Mahmoud N. Yamusa, it was a reminder on the sports festival

“The Commissioner may kindly wish to be reminded that the 7th Edition of the Kaduna State

‘Sports Festival will be Co-hosted between the 23 Local Government Councils and the Ministry of Sports Development at a Ratio of 60% -40% financing. 

“You may further wish to note that only N24,674,243.44 out of N51,591,600.00 was received leaving a balance of N26,917,356.56 outstanding. It is important to also note that preparation has started with a meeting with all the Directors of ESD yesterday,” it said. 

The document explained that the funds would be used for accomodation, feeding, medication, local transport and security.

It is also to serve in provision of basic sporting equipment to all teams, payment of officiating officials and purchase of prizes for winners as well as other deserving athletes.

The letter also informed local government councils that they will be responsible for  the following:

i) DTA for the LGA Staff that will accompany the Athletes

ii) Players allowances at the discretion of each LGC

iii) Transportation of Athletes from various Local Government Areas to venue where preliminaries are to be played and to Kaduna and from venues of preliminaries and Kaduna back to their various Local Government areas after each program.

iv) Sports Dress and Equipment

v) Contingency”

The letter further said, “Commissioner requested to consider paying the outstanding and communicate to the Chairmen of the 23 LGAS, their responsibilities as in para 2 to enable us proceed with the programme

“In view of the above, I wish to further inform the Commissioner that, this arrangement is applicable to all Sporting programs that is to be co-hosted between the Ministry and the 23 Local Government Councils in the State.”
