Journalist Joins House Of Rep’s Race In Delta

Vanguard Newspaper Senior Photo-Journalist, Iyete Akpokona Omafuaire has joined the race for the House of Representatives in Ughelli North/Ughelli South &Udu Federal Constituency in Delta State.
Omafuaire who is the current chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Warri Correspondents’ Chapel who was silent on the political party he belongs said it’s the time of the youth to be heard, stressing that they must take the centre stage to make the difference in governance instead of criticizing and apportioning blames.
Omafuaire promised better representation of the youths and elders if he is elected into Office.
Chief Press Secretary of Omafuaire Campaign Organization, Comrade Matthew Omonigho said, “The youth must be heard. Every leader  of all primary and secondary  school must have a say in the governance of their constituency.
“This can be achieved if a forum is created for them to meet with the representative every two  months by creating  a constituency Youth Council.
In the Statement, Omafuaire also vowed to maintain and upgrade existing  schools in the area.
Part of the Statement reads thus, “There shall be compulsory four weeks internship from SS2 giving the youth a taste of work life and opportunity to  accumulate first experience. Cumulative Internship at tertiary  institutions  instead of the NYSC which has outlived its  aim and cost lives.”
The Statement also introduced Iyete Akpokona Omafuaire to the people of Ughelli North /Ughelli South & Udu Federal Constituency just as it appealed to them to give him the necessary support beginning from the Primary elections.
According to the statement, Iyete Akpokona Omafuaire was born on 16th April 1974 in Akperhe Olomu to Prince Joseph Omafuaire Ikpemeku of the Onodjeghwu dynasty of Akperhe-Olomu and Princess Alice Etawarien Omafuaire of the great Ogbon Royal family of Ogoni-Olomu of Ughelli South Area of Delta State
He attended Odje Primary School Akperhe-Olomu 1980-1984, Azagba Primary School Otor-Owhe 1984-1986  where he obtained his first School leaving certificate.
His secondary education  was at Olomu Secondary School Otor-Orere-Olomu from 1986-1989 and Okpare Grammar School Okpare-Olomu 1989-1992 where he obtained his WAEC Certificate.
Omafuaire then proceeded to the  famous University of Benin, Benin-City, Edo State from 1994-1988  and bagged a degree in Business Administration  B. SC Business Administration.
In his bid to improve his journalism skills, Omaduaire attended the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja(Warri Centre) where hw obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in journalism PGDJ  in 2007-2008).
His quest for knowledge made enrolled for a Bachelor of law degree,LLB at the Delta State University,Oleh Campus in  2014 and he has been there till date(2018)
Omafuaire did his mandatory National Youth Service Corps in Benue State between 1999-2000.
Between 2000-2005 he was self employed and in 2006-2009 was a Photo-Journalist with the Niger Delta Standard Newspaper.
Omafuaire was employed as a Senior Photo-Journalist in 2009 by the Vanguard Media Limited, Publishers of the Vanguard Newspapers where he has served till date.
Omafuaire became the Financial Secretary of NUJ Warri Correspondents Chapel in 2012,  Secretary NUJ Warri Correspondents Chapel between 2012-2017.
He contested and became Chairman NUJ Warri Correspondents Chapel in 2017 in which capacity he has served till Date.
Omafuaire is an avid reader, activist, disciplined, accountable, trusted and a hard working person who is open to new ideas. Please vote for him.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu has called on the leadership of the Union in Nigeria as well as the Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to give Iyete Akpokona Omafuaire the necessary support to win the House of Representatives Seat.
Ikeogwu stated that, “This is the only candidate of the NUJ that has indicated interest to contest the state and I am calling on the National Leadership of the NUJ and our amiable Governor, Sen. (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to support the NUJ candidate in the State.  We want to make positive change this dispensation and just by criticizing.
“Akpokona Omafuaire is a competent hand and I can tell you he is the right candidate that is fit for the job. Please,give him your supports.”
He is out to propagate and promote “Youthocracy” and vibrancy.
The Statement stressed that the United States of America saw a change with Martin Luther King Jr as he spear headed civil rights.
“The world is embracing this two points leadership characteristics. With Obama we saw a vibrancy and he was  bridged between  the youth and the old. He was vibrant. We need such.”
