Jos agog for FEPSGA games

All is set as the city of Jos, the capital of Plateau State get agog following the arrival in the state of over 20,000 athletes and officials for this year’s edition of Federation of Public Service Games in the city.
The sports fiesta which promises to be the best in the history of the competition was formerly declared open yesterday by the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong who has promised his government’s full backing for the tournament.
Speaking on the championship, President of FEPSGA, Comrade Dahiru Hassan assured that all logistics has been put in place to ensure that only eligible athletes participate in the championship while the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the Games, Izam Azi stated that a road show was organized prior to the commencement of the games to drum up support and create awareness for the championship.
Meanwhile, the games has received the royal blessing of Gbong Gwom Jos, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba who assured FEPSGA executives of his kingdom’s support just as he charged them to utilize the good tourism potentials that abound in the state during the championship.
In a related development, defending champions of football event at the tournament; Customary Court of Appeal said they will be aiming to retain their trophy even as the host state has vowed to dethrone them as a reward for the support of the state government towards the hosting of the championship.
They gave the assurance when they were sent forth by the Director of Personnel, Alhaji Lawal Umaru who charged them to be good ambassadors of the parastatal.
Athletes are expected to compete in 14 scoring events and six demonstration sports at the championship which is organized for different Federal and State civil servants in the country.
