Worried that God fearing persons are not actively participating in politics as expected, a call has been made for Christians to massively join political parties and engage in the electioneering process to produce upright leaders.
The call was made by President of The United Church of Christ In NIgeria (HEKAN), Rev. (Dr.) Amos G. Kiri , while delivering his speech at the 56th Hekan Annual National Convention, in Kaduna on Sunday April 3, 2022.
“I am therefore, using this medium to call on our politicians, especially Christian politicians to play politics with clean intentions and readiness to serve humanity; knowing that one day they will give account of their stewardship.
“I want also to encourage our youth and women to participate actively in politics. Enroll in political parties of your choice from ward to national levels.
“Register and became a card-carrying member of your political party of your choice. You cannot change a bad situation when you are not involved,” he advised. HEKAN President said that already, political drums have been beaten for some time now and the country’s politicians are at their games again.
“They have started visiting key stakeholders to seek their support. Promises upon promises are been made at every point of their call.
“Like the wise saying says, you cannot clean the inside of a room that is dirty while standing outside, you need to enter the room and clean the dirty room.
“One more important thing: politics is a game of numbers. Only your vote can count.
“Therefore get your PVC-voters card ready. Those without it or those that have now attained age 18 should get registered at INEC offices in their respective Local Government Headquarters and vote wisely,” he stressed.
