Distribution of relief materials to victims of flood in Jibia Local Government of Katsina State has commenced.
The Central Working Committee for the Distribution and Camping who announced this said four hundred and sixty households, residents of the five affected areas by the flood have received over four million Naira.
Other items distributed are eight hundred bags of rice, four hundred bags of maize, three hundred bags of millet and two hundred bags of guinea corn.
Others include fifty two bags of beans, fifty bags of sugar, one hundred cartons of spaghetti, six hundred and fifty mattresses and fifty jerry cans of cooking oil.
The rest include one thousand bundles of wrappers and other textile materials as well as two hundred mosquito nets.
At the occasion, the chairman of the committee, Alhaji Almustapha Idris Danmusa also disclosed that additional trucks of relief materials out of thirteen trucks loaded with maize promised by Federal Government have arrived.
The Chairman of the committee who is also the head of Jibia local government administration also revealed that Governor Aminu Bello Masari had already donated two trucks of relief materials and cash assistance of two million naira from State Government.
He assured that the relief materials would be handed over to the victims.
The Chairman of the committee also disclosed that other assistance were received from the Department of Maradi Niger Republic, wealthy individuals and private companies outside the state.
Meanwhile, a member of Katsina State House of Assembly Mustapha Yusif Jibia has appealed to wealthy individuals within and outside the state to come to the aid of the victims of the Jibia flood.
In a remark, the Sarkin Arewa and district head of Jibia Alhaji Rabe Rabi’u expressed gratitude to both the State and Federal Governments for the kind gesture.
Earlier, while receiving relief assistance on behalf of victims, Alhaji Gide Dahiru disclosed that the Emir of Katsina Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman and members House of Representatives donated one million naira each while Alhaji Salisu J. B. donated one truck of cement.
Other donors are Sada Soli one million Naira, Senator Ibrahim Umar Kurfi two hundred bags of rice, maize, millet and guinea corn, while Mustapha Yusuf donated two hundred and fifty thousand Naira.
The rest are Alhaji Dahiru Bara’u Mangal who donated one million Naira while Alhaji Mohammed Usman Sarki donated thirty bags of rice, one hundred cartons of tomato and cooking oil among others.
