IPSS Honours Prominent Personalities With Award Of Excellence In Kano

An NGO “International Peace and Secure Society” (IPSS) has honoured prominent personalities with award of excellence.

The event took place at Senator Rufa’i Hanga Constituency Office in Kano on Thursday.

Ambassador Dr. Abdulhadi Zubairu Chula, the Interim Management Committee Chairman of Ajingi Local Government Area of Kano State was among the recipients of the prestigious awards and recognition.

The International Peace Ambassador Award and Fellowship Award from International Peace and Secure Society (IPSS) and Fellowship Award from Institute of Sustainable Development and Management Science (ISDMAS).

Comrade Yahaya Danjuma Yusuf, Director-General of IPSS, presented the awards and also represented Professor Samson Urjuigo, CEO of ISDMAS and Director of Studies, English Section, IS-Fopase University, Republic of Benin.

In his remarks, Ambassador Dr. Abdulhadi Zubairu Chula pledged to collaborate with IPSS in supporting the government’s initiatives to address and mitigate social vices in Kano State and Nigeria.

He assured of commitment towards supporting IPSS in the completion and closing ceremony of the project’s kickoff and rehearsal, scheduled for September 28, 2024, in ensuring the successful rollout of the main project across Nigeria.

Ambassador Chula commended Dr. Yahaya Danjuma Yusuf’s efforts in training thousands of youth, children, and young people with various skills and entrepreneurship programmes.

He attested to Dr. Yusuf’s sacrifices for humanity in Kano State and beyond, highlighting their previous collaboration during his tenure as Adviser to the Governor of Kano State on NGOs.

Ambassador Chula acknowledged Dr. Yusuf’s role as CEO of IHDIT, championing the training of over 11,000 people in Kano State under the Kwankwaso Kano State Community Empowerment Project, yielding positive development in the state.

He invited Dr. Yusuf to return and continue his commendable work to the people of Kano State.

Earlier in his address, the Director General of International Peace and Secure Society (IPSS) Comrade Yahaya Danjuma said, it is a collective decision with the community should have full control as well as curtail the frequent escalation of crime in the community, especially by some unknown faces in the area.

Dr. Danjuma said the community Rejuvenated Neighborhood Watch Volunteers in Kofar Jatau Zaria has been coopted into the collaboration of Community Based Security Organization (CCBSO) in Kaduna.

According to him, IPSS is aimed at human skills, society peace building, non violent education, promoting safety and security, advocating for community policing among other issues that may arise.

The IPSS D/G emphasized that these efforts are to curtail the frequent escalations of crimes within the Kofar Jatau and Unguwar Fatika axis in Zaria as well as chase away all sorts of criminal activities which attracted some unknown criminal faces that turned the area into their crime zone in connivance with some perpetrators from the communities.

“Our project aims to create a safe and secure environment in communities across both states. We are proud to have achieved notable milestones, including sanitizing areas against criminal activities, especially the social vices in Nigeria.

“Also, promoting community policing and curtailing substance abuse and other criminal activities in our society.

“The IPSS appreciates the support of security agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders who contributed to this project’s success,” he said.

Those that received the awards are Engr. Dr. Suleiman Sani chairman BOT IPSS, Professor Bello Ibrahim Vice Chairman BOT IPSS, Interim Chairman Garun Malam Local Government Council who also doubles as Adviser to the Governor of Kano State on Disaster Management, Col. Usman Abubakar Usman Garun Malam rtd and Amb. Muhammad Tukur Garba.

Others are, Amb Bilkisu Yakubu Indabo, Amb Ibrahim Waiya, Amb Peter Hassan Tijani, Mustapha Ciroma from Civil Society and Engr Yusuf Suleiman.
