Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has formally received a letter of notification of conferment of award as Leadership Governor of the Year 2021 from the management of Leadership Media Group, owners of Leadership Newspapers.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director-General (Press Affairs) Government House Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, dated Thursday April 21, 2022.
The letter was presented to him by the Group Managing Director of the media outfit, Muazu Elazeh who led other members of his management team, including the Group’s Director, Abraham Nda- Isaiah and the Director Special Projects, Augustine Agbo on a visit to the Governor at the Gombe State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
He informed the Governor that the decision of the Board of Editors to honour him was in recognition of his dynamism in leadership as well as his unparalleled achievements in infrastructural and human capital development across Gombe State. He said Governor Inuwa’s performance was scaled against those of others and found to standout.
” When the board sat to deliberate on nominations for 2021 Leadership Awards, your name featured prominently and by unanimous decision, you were chosen as Leadership Governor of the Year, 2021.
He stated, ” For Your Excellency’s effort at repositioning Gombe State on the path of sustainable economic growth, rebuilding the state’s decrepit infrastructure, constructing roads with spread across the state, providing job opportunities for youths and women as well as empowering your people with your agricultural transformation and human capital agenda, the selection board found you most qualified as Leadership Governor of the Year 2021″.
The GMD congratulated the Governor on his nomination as Leadership Governor of the Year 2021 and formally invited him to the award ceremony and lecture with the theme: Resetting Nigeria: Culture, Politics, Geography and the Role of Big Ideas slated for May 17, 2022, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
Responding, Governor Inuwa Yahaya thanked the media group for recognising his government’s modest achievements within less than three years in the saddle, describing the recognition as an honour done not only to him but his working team and the entire people of Gombe State.
He said the honour will spur him to continue to do more for the betterment of the people of the State, adding that it is his desire to leave Gombe better than he met it.
The Governor stated that his administration is providing quality governance to the people through a well thought-out Gombe State Development Plan (2021-2030) aimed at transforming the state within the next 10 years and placing it on the path of sustainable development.
“We came in with a clear vision and we were able to organise a mission that was to work for us. The award will inspire us to do more and we will succeed in changing the narratives to make Gombe a better place, better than we met it”, he said.
He commended the Leadership newspaper for its objectivity and dynamism, describing the national tabloid as one that has continued to promote the narrative of good governance and national cohesion.
He also praised the newspaper for reporting Gombe State in an unbiased and dynamic manner that has given the state the desired visibility among its peers in the country.
“I must confess that the coverage Leadership has given us is really encouraging and heartwarming, coming from a group that is very objective and dynamic. The recognition of that service is really worth celebrating,’’ the Governor said.
