*Olubadan promotes him to Bada Balogun Ibadanland

As the Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Saliu Adetunji promotes 10 Chiefs, the new Bada Balogun of Ibadanland, Olooye Adegboyega Adegoke has said to reduce insecurity to the barest minimal in Nigeria, government should accord responsibility for traditional rulers
Speaking with newsmen after the promotion of the Chiefs , the new Bada Balogun declared that the roles expected of the traditional rulers should be clearly spelt out constitutionally
According to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial hopeful in Oyo South Senatorial District, there is also the need for constitutional amendment by the National Assembly to accommodate such roles for traditional rulers in governance.
” To reduce insecurity to the barest minimal there should be responsibility for traditional rulers across the board, which should be spelt out constitutionally. Security is the backbone of any society, which is tied to its social, political, economic and cultural growth.
has asked government to give constitutional roles for traditional rulers in governance in Nigeria”, he said .
The new Bada Balogun added, ” traditional rulers are closer to the people than the local government Chairmen. It is very hard to see anyone who will not recognise their monarch but they may not even know their local government Chairman”
” Therefore, for democracy to thrive, there is the need for the involvement of traditional rulers in governance particularly in the area of security . Security is germane to the peaceful coexistence of any community and national development”, adding, “it is high time for the government to take security issues more seriously by delegating constitutional roles to traditional rulers.”
Blaming the lingering insecurity in the society to lack of proper funding, the inadequacy of personnel and necessary crime-fighting equipment, Olooye Adegoke tasked the government to make traditional rulers more responsible constitutionally to their domain, in order to reduce social vices to the barest minimal.
The new Bada Balogun pointed out that doing this would afford the traditional rulers ” to have first hand information on security issues in their various communities and as such, they would know how to address any security challenge that may arise from their domains.
According to him, inadequacy of this vital ingredient of development has led to all manner of social ills, including violent crimes such as armed robbery, ritual killings, child trafficking and other crimes.
The 10 new Chiefs promoted on the Balogun lineage to Olubadan throne at the ceremony by Oba Adetunji are Chief Tirimisiyu Fijabi Arowolo Obisesan from Aare Ago to Ayingun Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Wasiu Delodun Adegboyega Ajimobi from Lagunna to Aare Ago Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Mikail Gboyega Olawoyin Orogunmodi from Oota to Lagunna Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Babajide Taofeek Ayoade from Aregbe Omo to Oota Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Lateef Adetokunbo Akintola from Gbonka to Aregbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland.
Others are Chief Nureni Adebayo Akanbi from Aare Onibon to Gbonka Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Kayode Afolabi from Bada to Aare Onibon Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke from Ajia to Bada Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Monsuru Abiola Olatunji Arulogun from Jagun to Ajia Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Taiwo Ige Kamorudeen Akande from Mogaji Odunlami Family Olorisaoko to Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland.
