Following a meeting held at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Abuja, the commission has approved the promotion of 1307 staff across the country.
A breakdown showed 14 officers were promoted from Grade Level (GL) 16 to the rank of GL 17 (substantive directors) while 1,293 were officers from GL 7 to 16.
The commission also inaugurated a Four-man committee which is expected to submit its report on Monday 30th January, 2017. The Committee is to review Rivers State national and State Assembly re-run elections which took place on Saturday 10th December, 2016.
The committee which has Professor Okechukwu Ibeanu as Chairman, also has ; AVM Ahmed T. Mua’azu as member. Professor Jacob Jatau (Resident Electoral Commissioner) FCT and Omola Tajudeen (Deputy Director, Decipline) are also members.
Part of its terms of references are also to; advice the commission on the assignment and to identify causes of failure in some Local Government Areas (LGAs). Meanwhile, four directors of the commission who recently retired were recognised and honoured, they were also appreciated with gift items.
