INEC Holds Retreat For Staff

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is to hold two retreats, one for commissioners and the other for the review of the implementation of 2012-2016 strategic plan as disclosed in a press release issued by the commission’s Spokesman, Mr Nick Dazang.
The retreats which are to take place at the Intercontinental Hotel Victoria Island, Lagos  are scheduled for Monday 16 the January to Wednesday 18th January 2017.
The commission’s Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu is expected to deliver the welcome address while the retreat objectives and expectations would be reeled out by the Chief Technical Adviser to the Chairman, Professor M.J. Kuna.                                                                                                     Some of the papers expected to be presented include; Overview of Election Management in Nigeria: Present and Future, to be delivered by Professor M.J. Kuna and; Safeguarding the Independence of  Election Management Bodies (EMBs): Lessons for INEC to be delivered by Professor Bolaji Owassanoye.
Others are: Reflection on Post 2015  Elections and  Looking Forward to Anambra Governorship Election, by Professor Sam Egwu; Enhancing the role and Performance of INEC Field Officers in State and Local Government Areas, to be presented by Professor Adele Jinadu.                                                                                                                                 Dr Lawal Ismaila and IFES Consultant are to present; Public Procurement and its Implications for INEC: Presentation of the Proposed INEC Procurement Template and; Election Management Bodies: International Perspective and Best Practice respectively.
