INEC Fully Ready For February 25 Elections – Oyo REC

*Says 2,305,903 expected to vote in Oyo State

With few days to the February 25 polls, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, Dr. Adeniran Rahmon Tella has hinted that INEC is now fully ready for election.

Speaking  at the Oyo State NUJ Correspondents Chapel guest platform “Speak Out”  held at the Chapel Secretariat, Mokola in Ibadan on Tuesday, the REC said 2,305,903 electorate are expected to vote in Oyo State in the general elections.

Dr Tella emphasized that in its quest to ensure free, fair and generally acceptable election this year, the commission ” is leaving no stone unturned at ensuring and conduct free, fair, credible elections with its preparations so far.

“I have the opportunity to tell you the level of our preparedness. The level of our preparedness has reached an advanced state in all stages. This is also an opportunity for us to again to come out and talk to you,,”he said.  

Dr Tella stressed that in Oyo State, 

a total of 2,305,903 electorate are expected to vote in the general elections and that eligible voters are expected to vote in all the 6,390 polling units spread across the 33 local government areas in the state. 

Speaking further, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) hinted that 2,305,903 Permanent Voter’s Card, (PVC)  have been collected meaning that  2,305,903 eligible voters are expected to vote in the 2023 general elections. 

Dr Tella declared that of the 3,276,675 registered voters in Oyo State, only 2,305,903 PVCs have been collected so far leaving a total of 760,766 PVCs uncollected 

The INEC then called on all eligible voters in and across the state to come out en mass and vote for candidates of their choice during the elections. 

Dr Tella while tasking stakeholders in the 2023 general elections to cooperate with the commission to conduct free, fair and credible elections in the state gave the total number of polling units in the state as 6,390.
