INEC excludes APC in Kogi re-run elections for February 20
By; Adama John, Lokoja
Independent National Election (INEC)has fixed February 20 for re-run election for the Senatorial, House of Representaives and House of
Assembly slot in Kogi State  with the ruling party, the All
Progressives Congress(APC) being excluded in most of the elections.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, Mallam Hassan
Halilu Pai gave the hint in Lokoja at a stakeholders meeting.
The INEC boss said that the decision to exclude some parties from the re-run poll was purely based on the order of the court, stressing that they cannot do anything to the contrary until they receive further directive from the national headquarters of the commission.
Explaining further, he said that in the election for the central and eastern
districts of the state, all the parties that participated in the last poll are included except the All Progressives Congress, while the  Peoples Democratic Party would only be featured in the re-run for  Ogori/Okene federal constituency.
Similarly, he posited that in Ofu and Ankpa I state constituencies’ re-run elections, all the parties that took part in the last general polls are included except the All Progressives Congress.
However, Mallam Pai averred that the APC and all the parties that
participated in the Dekina Biraidu, Okura and Idah constituencies’
elections of last year would feature in the forthcoming poll.
The resident electoral commissioner equally commended the people of
the state for their maturity during the last general elections, describing the polls as most peaceful so far in the state.
