Badaru’s Deputy Emerges Jigawa APC Guber Candidate

Jigawa State Deputy Governor, Malam Umar Namadi has emerged gubernatorial flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

He was elected APC candidate during the party’s gubernatorial primary election held at Aminu Kano Triangle Dutse, the state capital.

Malam Umar Namadi scored 1,220 votes, while the serving Senator Sabo Nakudu for Jigawa South West scored 106 votes.

Announcing and declaring Alh. Namadi as APC Gubernatorial candidate at 1.00 am on Friday May 27,  the electoral committee chairman, Alh. Kabiru Ibrahim said that Namadi’s victory occured after securing the highest votes of 1,220 out  of the votes cast.

A serving Senator for Jigawa North-East, Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia scored 58 votes.

Farouk Adamu Aliyu who is a former lawmaker scored 13 votes, Aminu Kani scored 16 votes, while the Jigawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sani Hussaini Garin Gabas scored 5 votes.

The head of the electoral committee, Alhaji Kabiru Ibrahim congratulated Malam Umar Namadi and party delegates for a successful primary election.

Our correspondent reports that the winner defeated eight other gubernatorial aspirants.
