Kaduna Records Highest Number Of Online Registrants, INEC Commences Distribution Of 31,688 PVCs

Resident Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Commissioner for Kaduna State, Dr. Asma’u Sani Maikudi has on Tuesday, revealed that Kaduna State recorded the highest number of registrants  online  in Northern Nigeria and third largest in physical registration.
Dr. Asma’u made the revelation during a stakeholders meeting at the INEC office in Kaduna.
According to her, the commission discovered that about 37.4 per cen of the new registrants in the state were  invalid.
Also speaking, the Commission stated that the INEC Voter Enrollment Device (IVED) will be replacing the Smart Card Reader (SCR) during the 2023 General elections, this according to INEC, is to eliminate the possibility of voter identity theft. 
Dr. Asma’u explained that the technology combines both facial and finger print identification of voters and will drastically curb the issue of multiple voting.
On availability of Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC),  Kaduna INEC announced that a consignment of 31,688 pieces of the PVC have arrived and distribution has begun.
The commission maintained its position on Elections Time Table, however stated that a slight adjustment has been made on the dates for Presidential and National Assembly Elections which is Saturday February 25, 2023, while Governorship and State Assembly Elections shall be conducted on Saturday March 11, 2023.
