2023: 3 More Commissioners Resign In Ebonyi, Assembly Screens, Confirms 5 For Replacement

Ahead of 2023 general elections, three commissioners have resigned their appointments to pursue  political careers in the   elections as Ebonyi State House of Assembly  screens and confirms five others to replace them.
The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr.Uchenna Orji disclosed this while addressing newsmen on the outcome of Thursday’s executive council meeting at new Government House, Abakaliki.
According to Mr.Orji, the three commissioners that tendered their resignation letters are, Commissioner of Capital City Development, Hon.Onyekachi Nweboyi; Commissioner for Business Development, Hon. Ukie Ezeali and Commissioner for Lands, Matthew Uguru,  while five other commissioners were earlier screened and confirmed by the State House of Assembly including seven Development Centre Coordinators to replace those who resigned.
Earlier on Thursday, Ebonyi State House of Assembly screened and confirmed five commissioners designate and Development centre Coordinators in line with the House rules and provisions of the constitution.
This was contained in a letter from Governor David Umahi addressed to the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, requesting the House to screen and confirm five commissioners designate and seven coordinators of Development Centres to  enable him inaugurate them to fill the vacant political positions in his government.
Among the commissioners designate are, Mrs. Beatrice Eze, Hon. Mathias Adum Adum, Celestine Nwokpuru Nwali, Romanus Nwasum and Chris Uchaji, while the seven coordinators of development centres were also screened and confirmed.
Reading out the letter in the House under matters of public importance, the Speaker of Ebonyi state House of Assembly, Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru stated that the governor forwarded the names of the appointees to the  for possible screening and confirmation and therefore, mandated them  to take a bow and go having fulfilled all the requirements as prescribed by the law.

The nominees were earlier mandated  to submit their curriculum vitae, photocopies of  relevant credentials and tax clearance certificates with evidence of payments of their property taxes, in 31 file copies, to the office of the Clerk of the House not later than 9am, Thursday,  May 12, 2022.
