A Renowned Islamic Scholar, Ash Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir has described as undemocratic the power rotation being championed by the political class and parties in the country’s democracy.
Ash Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, who is the national chairman of Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’a Wa’ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) with its headquarters in Jos, noted that the zoning arrangement being caricatured into the electoral system tantamount to one’s denial the right to vote for candidate of his/her choice in an election.
The Jos JIBWIS chief who was speaking at the closing ceremony of a two-day national preaching in Bauchi Sunday, explained that zoning of elective seat especially the presidency means denying the electorates the rights to vote for candidate of their choice in general elections.
He told the mammoth crowd of Sheikhs, Ulamas, Mallams, Ustazs and other faithful at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium (ATBS), venue of the grand event that every registered voter has the right to vote for candidate of his/her choice.
While defending that power shift is a denial of one’s right to freely vote in an election, Jingir the three-day national preaching is being conducted across the states in the federation at three weeks’ intervals.
“My message to every eligible voter, whenever given the right to vote candidate of your choice, it is he or she that could determine who to vote and who not to, nobody should force him/her to vote against his wish, and everybody has the right to come out and vote candidate of his/her choice”, Jingir said.
He also called on all Nigerians, both male and female to stop agitating for power rotation as, according to him, it crashes democracy that has for long time being preach to illiterate Nigerians, and tantamount to usurpation the right of the voter.
On security, Sheikh Jingir wondered the negative change in the country’s crime waves, describing it as an aged long concept of international conspiracy to disintegrate Nigeria, recalling a saying by a past UN secretary general who once said that God is a Nigerian who always defend the country against calamities.
Jingir, expressed delight with the massive turnout of Islamic faithful to the Bauchi national preaching, stressing that the orderly and peaceful manner followers conducted themselves during the event is worthy of emulation by any meaningful organization globally.
He called on members of the Sunnah to continue to unite themselves for the propagation of the religion, as well as continued prayers for Nigerians to live in peace and harmony with one another, and for the country to prosper in all its actions.
Ash-Sheikh Jingir recalled that JIBWIS with its international headquarters in Jos, Plateu state has for the past 44 years been preaching the gospel of national unity, peaceful co-existence and educating followers on the tenets of the religion of Islam and Suunah of the Holy Prophet, Muhammad (PBUH).
He also recalled that one of the greatest achievements of the JIBWIS was the unification of the Jos and Kaduna hitherto warring factions of Izalah, saying the positive act has not only promoted the religion, but also brought together the Ummah to forge a common front.
Jingir however noted with dismay the COVID-19 pandemic that has in the past slowed down the waves of the national preaching, but was delighted with its resumption which has so far been conducted Abuja, Jingir, Jigawa, and now in Bauchi.
He further explained that the national preaching goes side by side with its conduct at different levels in states, local governments, districts, and mosques to propagate the gospel of the Islam, and this was what we have been doing for the past 44 years since the formation of JIBWIS.
