Social Media Spreading Falsehood On COVID-19 Vaccine – PSN



The Pharmaceutical Society of NIgeria  (PSN), has warned the public against embracing falsehood being spread on the Social Media on efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine.
PSN Chairman Kaduna State, Pharmacist Mrs Talatu Uwa Ebune expressed this while fielding questions from newsmen on the sidelines of the World  Pharmacists Day 2021, marked at the Arewa House, Kaduna on Saturday September 25, 2021.
She explained that the  COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective.

“It has been tested by NAFDAC and we recommend its use. It doesn’t have any other negative effect on humans.
“There is enough information from WHO. and others on the vaccine.
“The only problem we have is social media hype depicting it as unsafe,” she said.
Pharmacist Ebune tasked the media to educate the public on what constitutes fake news.
“We should educate the public not to depend so much on fake news,” she added.
The theme of this year’s day is, “Pharmacy: Always Trusted For Your Health.
Speakers that spoke at the eve t, include, Pharmacist Sani Galadima Abdullahi (National Vaccine Security & Logistics Consultant (WHO) and Pharmacist Aminu Alhassan Kuba (National Vaccine Security and Logistic Consultant UNICEF).
The Kaduna PSN also observed the day under two sub themes, 1: Building Public Trust In Vaccines Safety and Efficacy2:The Role of pharmacist in NIgeria’s Immunization Supply Chain Management.
