The Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University (KASU), Professor Muhammad Tanko has expressed delight that the institution is growing in leaps and bounds, following the support it is getting from the Kaduna State Government, led by Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
He expressed this at thecombined 4th Convocation Ceremony of KASU at the Main Campus, Tafawa Balewa Way. Kaduna on Saturday September 25, 2021.
“The University, as of now has Twelve Faculties, Two Colleges, Two Schools, 61 Postgraduate Programmes, Thirty-Five Undergraduate Programmes, Four Research Centres, Two Institutes and a number of other Academic Support Units.
“Furthermore, we have 70 Full-Time Professors and more than 200 Ph.D holders. Presently, the University offers Ph.Ds in almost all the departments in the University, and Master of Philosophy for the students who do not have the requirements for admission into the Ph.D programmes,” he said.
According to him, at the convocation, “we are presenting two departments that have successfully completed their course of Study for the award of the Ph.D. I like to thank the Visitor to the University for supporting the University to achieve these feat,” he said.
The VC explained that in collaboration with the Kaduna Investment and Promotions Agency(KADIPA), they have developed Private Public Partnership (PPP) that resulted to the construction of 1,200 Bed-Space at the Main Campus, 500 Bed-Space at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital (BDTH) and a University Guest House. At the last convocation.
“I remember we pleaded for a permanent site, today, I like to thank His Excellency for not only allocating the site, but also dedicating more than 10 Billion Naira for the development of the site,” he disclosed.
Speaking further, he expressed delight at the installation of a Chancellor for the university.
“We have just witnessed the installation of the University’s Chancellor, His Highness, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, CON, the
14th Emir of Kano,” he said.
