Incessant loss of lives along Kaduna – Abuja road; KDSG to upgrade Doka Hospital to Emergency Trauma Centre

Worried by the incessant car crashes and loss of lives along the Kaduna – Abuja high way, Kaduna State Government has concluded plans to upgrade the Doka Hospital along the express way to Emergency Trauma centre.
Prof Jonathan Andrew Nok, the State Commissioner for Health, Human Resource and Social Services, who disclosed this in Kaduna, said this would address the treatment of accident cases along the ever busy road.
Nok said the decision was taken at the State weekly Executive Council meeting explaining that the decision was intended to offer remedial measures in cases of accident along the road.
According to him the state government will upgrade the hospital’s infrastructure with equipment and post qualified professional to the hospital.
He explained further that staff of the Doka hospital would in the interim, be redeployed to hospitals within the state while the renovation and upgrade was ongoing.
According to him, the project management team from the State Ministry of Health will take over what he called “civil facilities” of the hospital.
“Our project on the account of this intervention is to address most of the accident that take place along Abuja road where there are no highly technically functional hospital to take care of victims,
“The believe is that after the upgrade the hospital would make serious input to treating of victims who for one reason or the other travel along Abuja Kaduna road,” he said.
The Doka hospital hesaid would be made one of the outposts of Emergency Response Centre where mobile numbers would be made availed to members of the public to call in cases of emergency.
The hospital he added would be equipped with four theatre rooms and live saving device and walk-ways to move patients easily in addition to fully equipped ambulance would also be provided with live saving devices and fully operational theatre for the hospital.
The state government he revealed would also provide additional emergency response centre along Rigacikun-Zaria road, Kafanchan – Abuja Road and equipped with up-to-date ambulatory services.
He reiterated that the state government had included a reasonable amount in its budget for the year to upgrade health sector in the state to a befitting and modern system in the interest of the public.
It would be recalled that the Minister of State Labour and Employment, Barrister James Ocholi, wife and son lost their lives as a result of car crash along the road.
