Worried by the compromising attitudes of traditional rulers and other stakeholders in Imo State, His Imperial Majesty (Emperor 11), Eze Soronnadi Nwabueze Ezewuiro, has called on Imolites to come together and stop the governor Rochas Okorocha from imposing his inlaw as governor come 2019.
Ezewuiro made the call in Calabar on. Wednesday while briefing newsmen shortly after paying homage to the Father and Spiritual Leader of the Brotherhood of Cross and Star leader Olumba Obu Olumba.
According to him ” Rochas has subjected Imo indigenes into hardship and continuous suffering since he became the governor”.
“Rochas has exposed his criminalities by binding all Ezes in Imo as well as the whole indigenes in the state into his hopeless occultic kingdom, hence nobody is challenging him, he said”.
Ezewuiro wondered why people are keeping quiet when civil servants have not been paid, but the governor is busy erecting sculptures of some African leaders worth over five million of Naira each.
“Rochas, he said, who claimed to be educated, enlightened, civilised or well informed is going about breaking people’s houses, shops and properties without paying them compensation, he added”.
He recalled a situation where the governor allegedly ordered the police to shoot at sight “Keke name pep” owners who were armless, but were merely carrying out a peaceful protest. Over five persons allegedly lost their lives in that ugly scenario.
“Right now as I am addressing you gentlemen of the press, the situation is so tensed because the governor wants to impose his Inlaw as governor of the state in 2019. It will be a shame on Imolites to allow this to happen, he added”.
Ezewuiro who doubles as the lord mayor of Igbo nation and in Diaspora, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop Okorocha from disgracing the All Progressives’ Congress (APC). Out of 630 expensive billboards in Owerri, the state capital, Rochas appeared on 627″.
Said he “I have brought it to the notice of President Buhari, that enough is enough in Imo, by the criminal ways of hijacking of governorship and deputy by the Orly, Okigwe and Mbano senatorial zones leaving Owerri and Mbaise people out of the zoning agreement”.
“Mbaise people under Owerri zone have never produced a single person as governor or deputy since the creation of Imo state, and yet the Igbo Nation continues to celebrate “Ahiara Declaration”, yet Ahiara is a town in Mbaise. The celebration must stop, he said”.
While condemning the processes of creating families and villages into autonomous communities, he said ” the governor enthrones his friends as His Royal Highnesses and decides when to dethrone them if they disobeys his orders”. This is “madness aimed at scoring cheap political goals”.
This, he added, had destroyed the then powerful traditional institutions because he chooses when to hire and fire.
“As at the last count, Okorocha has dethroned over 22 so called Ezes in the state. He has destroyed the culture, tradition, roots, ancestral heritage, norms, peace and unity of all the villages”.
However, he promised that ” henceforth, there shall never be any more creation of autonomous communities in Imo “as thee governor does not understand the spiritual meaning of Imo state emperoring. If he does, he would have respected himself”.
