IMAN to establish hospital, school in Bauchi

The Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) in Bauchi has finalized plan to establish a hospital and a school to render services and bring medical attention closer to the people in the state.
Bauchi State Chairman of the association, Dr. Muhammad Alkali disclosed that the hospital when established will provide medical care to people in line with the provisions of Islam.
Alkali, who is also ‎the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH),‎ was speaking at the second state congress meeting of the association held in Bauchi.
He emphasized that the hospital will also have a mechanism to respond to disaster situations and epidemics through its professional members to render humanitarian services to victims regardless of their faiths.
The chairman disclosed that‎ the association has set up a committee for the establishment of the hospital which, he said, was saddled with the responsibility of finding a temporary site for the take-off of the hospital either in Bauchi metropolis or Azare in the state.
Dr. Mohammed Alkali explained that the hospital will hopefully take-off before the first year anniversary of the association’s EXCO slated for November 2016.
According to him, the association will collaborate with local and international organizations to provide quality medical care and support in various medical fields.‎
In addition, he said, the association will provide a platform for grooming talents in the medical field in order to provide professionally competent medical manpower in health institutions in the state.‎
The National chairman of the association, Dr. Salisu Isma’il‎ has in a remark, commended the Bauchi State chapter of the association for its effort to help the people.
Represented by former National Ex-Officio of the association, Dr. Abdullahi Danlami, Isma’il said that although the main aim of the association is to render ‎medical services to the less privileged, it also focuses on the prevention of communicable diseases and epidemics as witnessed in the case of Ebola and Lassa fever recently.
He further announced the upcoming National Annual General Meeting of the association coming up in Abuja as well as the meeting of the Federated International Medical Association (FIMA) also scheduled for Abuja.
