Ife crisis: Be Committed To Peace, Stability – Omisore

Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore has urged Nigerians to be more committed to peace and stability in and across the country.
Senator Omisore made the call in his Ile Ife country home during a ‘Walk for Peace’ from the Ooni Palace in Ile Ife to Oba Okunade Sijuwade hall Enuwa, and visit to Sabo area of the ancient city.
He emphasized that there is the need for Nigerians irrespective of their tribe to at all times give peace a chance by living together as brothers and sisters.
The former deputy governor maintained that the time has come for all and sundry to ensure peaceful co-existence to protect lives and property.
Senator Omisore pointed out that “Peace is required for development of Ile Ife and Osun state and Nigeria in general and that everyone must be committed to it”.
He however urged victims of the bloody crisis to estimate the property damaged and send the list to him for his own contribution.
Senator Omisore and others that joined him in the ‘Walk for Peace’ were received to the Ooni’s palace by the Ooni’s second in Command, the Obalufe Oba Idowu Adediwura and at the Sabo community by the Arewa leaders in Ifeland.
Speaking through Alhaji Nasidi Malami, the Seriki Hausawa, Alhaji Mohammed Mandagali, while receiving Senator Omisore lamented the bloody clash, saying, Ife indigenes are peace makers, accommodating, friendly and loving.
The Seriki Hausawa then blamed the clash on the deceit of the devil and then appealed to both sides to forget the past, turn a new leaf by giving peace a chance.
The Obalufe of Ife Kingdom and second-in-command to Ooni of Ife, Oba Idowu Adediwura,  while receiving Senator Omisore into the Ooni’s palace commended him for his kindness and good gesture to his people.
Oba Adediwura described Senator Omisore as “a man of peace, who always promotes peaceful coexistence wherever he finds himself.
Also speaking, the Jaran of Ife, High Chief Adekola Adeyeye, thanked God for peace that has started reigning in Ife, calling for continuity of peace and harmony on the ancient city.
