The Deputy Governorship candidate of the Makarfi faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. John Yakubu has declared that due to his upbringing and the respect he has for the Esan people, he would not abandon them if he becomes the Deputy Governor of the state.
He made this declaration when he visited lkolo Esan Organization as part of his consultation in preparation towards the election.
He noted with displeasure the manner the present government-led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole neglected Edo Central Senatorial District, and therefore solicited the assistance of the organization to ensure his party, the Peoples Democratic Party emerged victorious in the governorship election.
He said with the confidence he has in Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu that Esan people would no longer suffer any marginalization and that the man would not renege in his promises to them.
According to him, “Esan people are the second largest ethnic group in Edo State. If they overwhelmingly vote for PDP, our government must surely show appreciation to them in terms of projects and many other areas. My people have supported me in the past and I have no doubt they will also do it this time. So, I need your support for us to achieve the victory”.
Hon. Yakubu, former chairman of Esan North-East Local Government Council in the state, further said he would like to be guided by his people while in office, saying that has always been his style in government and promised to be proud of his people.
In his remark, the Chainman of Ikolo Esan Organization, the apex social-political group in Esan land, Prof. Gabriel Ebosele Oteze had earlier congratulated Hon. John Yakubu for being made the Deputy Governorship candidate under the platform of the PDP.
