A contender for the seat of House of Representative for Jos-North/ Bassa Federal Constituency under African Democratic Congress {ADC}, Abdulmajid Lawal Sani has promised to employ mechanism to end the protracted skirmishes raging the area for several years.
Speaking during an interview with New Nigerian Newspapers in Jos, the aspirant maintained the the long period of blood-letting in the constituency has impacted negatively in the socio-economic development of the area.
“Today, our people are divided on the basis of religion and tribal differences and the polarisation is only getting deeper everyday “.
He said such differences have posed a serious challenge for the political elites in the constituency, “particularly on the need to restore normalcy and harmonious co-existence among the various tribes living in the area“.
He decried the level of representation which the constituency is currently enjoying at the National Assembly, saying that a lot needs to be done to provide the people with a quality representation.
He said the inability of the lawmaker representing the constituency to organise a town hall meeting   ‎in a bid to hear the people’s problems further denied the area dividends of democracy.
Commenting on the recent attack on the convoy of the Plateau State Governor by some militia group, the politician described the incident as unfortunate and a threat to democracy.
