Former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Oyo State Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide on Tuesday declared that she remains a loyal and committed member of the PDP in the State.
Oloye Jumoke Akinjide who made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan signed by her Special Assistant, Alhaji Kehinde Isiaka emphasized that she ” will not for any reason shirk from her unflagging zeal geared towards building a PDP that is viable and strong in Oyo State, the South West and at the National level.”
According to the former Minister, the clarification of her total commitment to the PDP became necessary in view of the recent defection of High Chief Rashidi Ladoja and his followers to the African Democratic Party (ADC) in Oyo state.
“In view of the on-going defection of Senator Rashidi Ladoja and others from the PDP to ADC, I wish to state categorically that I remain a staunch member of the PDP. While I acknowledge Senator Ladoja ‘s inalienable and constitutional right to move to any party of his choice, and deeply regret that he could not find accommodation in our great party, PDP, she said
Oloye Jumoke Akinjide added ” I remain, a loyal and committed member of the PDP and will work assiduously towards the Party’s success in the forthcoming general elections”.
She emphasized that given the present situation of the Party in Oyo State,” all hands must now be on deck to strengthen the Party and uphold the values of internal discipline in order for the Party to realize it’s full potential and record a roaring victory in the forthcoming General Elections.”
