I conceived Stone Wall to uplift Barakallahu, assist government – Brigadier General Galadanci

The newly developed Stone Wall Multi-purpose Hall and Events Centre, Barakallahu, Kaduna was conceived to help in developing the community, create jobs and key into the present administration’s change agenda, proprietor of the centre, Brigadier General Mohammed Kabiru Galadanci (rtd) has disclosed.
He made the disclosure while interacting with newsmen at the recreation facility on Saturday.
According to him, after he retired from the military last year, he was trying to think of a way of contributing to the community and after several options came to mind, he settled for the recreational facility, which for now is the most rational choice.
“At first I was thinking of building a school. I then felt it would not be very beneficial to the community now because our new government is already improving the standard through commitment at ensuring only qualified teachers are recruited, school feeding and schools renovation.
“Bearing that in mind, I settled for the recreational facility which will open up the area to new opportunities and infrastructure. As you can see, it is located right inside the community, which is intentional.
“When the government sees that the Stone Wall is attracting so many people, I know they would come and do the road leading here,” he said.
Speaking further, he said that unlike what was obtainable with most top military officers who retire and settle down in a GRA, fencing themselves away from people, he is compelled by the need to connect to the common man, hence the location.
General Galadanci emphasized that the primary motivating factor of establishing the facility was not profit margin, but to create jobs.
“By the time we start full operation, there would be other smaller businesses that would thrive on the activities taking place here. My main reason is not to make money, but to leave a legacy. Right now with my pension, I can afford to cater for my family and train my kids in the university comfortably,” he added.
He said that it was also in furtherance of keying into the change agenda of government by creating facilities that will keep people away from traveling abroad, while at the same time using local content.
“All the work going on here is being done by the locals. For example, the children recreational facilities which they wanted me to buy only one for N280,000 were all fabricated, not just one but all, for only N220,000 by someone from here in Barakallahu,” he said.
