I am still on the way to APC – Akala.
By; Bayo Akamo, Ibadan.
Former governor of Oyo state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala has insisted that he is still on his way to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Otunba Akala stated this in Ibadan at a chat with journalists at Governor Ajimobi’s Oluyole, Ibadan residence to congratulate him on the affirmation of his (Governor Ajimobi) election by the Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan which dismissed the petition filed by Senator Rashidi Ladoja and the Accord Party to challenge the April 11 governorship election result in Oyo state.
The former governor said there will be no going back in his decision to dump the Labour Party for APC with his supporters, saying the defection “is almost a done deal”.
“It has been on; we are still crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s. I am on my way to APC. It is almost a done deal,” he said.
Commenting on the Court of Appeal judgment, Otunba Akala declared that it was well deserved and was an affirmation of the popular mandate given to the governor by the people of the state.
The former governor pointed out that all the aggrieved contenders in the state governorship election should forget as well as stop litigations and join hands with Governor Abiola Ajimobi in moving Oyo State forward.
Specifically, Otunba Akala asked the Accord governorship candidate, Senator Rashidi Ladoja to stop further litigation over the April 11 election by not proceeding to the Supreme Court, saying, “When somebody is in the front, you must follow him; God has put him there. Let us all help him so that he can also help the teeming population of Oyo State.
“The governor has the interest of the people of Oyo State at heart. He should, therefore, be allowed to take care of their welfare and to let them have life more abundant. We are all one.
“I will advise the opposition or whoever is still aggrieved to please let us bury the hatchet and work together with the governor to move the state forward.’’
