A former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Thursday, said that he is confident that he will win the 2023 presidential race with the support of the people to retain the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
Asiwaju Bola Tinubu stated this when interacting with the Kaduna State APC delegates at the Umaru Musa Yaradua Hall in Kaduna.
Tinubu commended Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai who he referred to as his friend and colleague, he thanked him for doing great in the state.
He thanked the members of APC for being there to witness and support his visit to the state, wishing them all the best in the country.
He frowned at how people are facing challenges of insecurity in this difficulty period of the nation, adding that with foresight and visionary committed leadership, there’s no way it cannot be overcome.
“I am with you, if given the mandate we will overcome the challenges of banditry in our country.
“It is not easy to govern at the same time face banditry,” he said, while commending Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai for a job well done.
He said, “we at the national level there’s no time we don’t think about you as we hear pains of families while some are still in the hands of captivity.
“We are not going to forget them, we are not going to abandon them, we will surely do our best as we started this journey together.
“However, we are in democracy. We are going to choose whoever deserves to govern us as a whole.
” I chose to be in politics, I became a Senator, we have to fight this policies, I would have gone back to my job, but we want peace in our country like any other nation,” he said.
Tinubu appreciated the kind gesture of Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai for transforming the state through the urban renewal projects, which he said gives hope to the residents of the state.
He noted that government is not about resting, but about thinking and praying.
Asiwaju thanked el-Rufai for bringing in more investors to the state, saying, that’s what Nigerians need, “the reformed of government”.
He further said, “we must work together, I believe in the principles of fairness, justice and a great character, hence the state governor has invested in the state”.
Tinubu noted that his emergence will be of great benefit to the people of Kaduna.
He assured of constant electricity, the textiles industry will be back and the need to bring back commodities exchange.
Furthermore, he said, “You are my neck, you are my wind to get me there, we are to ensure harmony and unity of purpose to elect people. Please elect me, I am the best candidate with my experience.
“Some may be running. I don’t know where to but for me I’m running to the Villa”.
He called on everyone that, they should join hands together that APC will never fail and they will not fail them.
“I know the road, I praise you all as you follow the road.
“Kaduna you have been very consistent. I believe that you will follow me. Follow the man who knows the road,” he begged.
In his response, the Governor el-Rufai endorsed Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as their presidential candidate, while people in response assured the governor of their mandate.
The governor commended the kind gesture of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu towards the victims of train attacks, he said, ” I thank you for your generosity and contributions”.
He described Bola Tinubu as the first presidential aspirant who visited the state.
“We will not forget you, I have worked with him and I know what he can do,” he said.
The governor assured of security, infrastructure, agriculture and empowerment.
Earlier, the party Chairman, Kaduna State, All Progressives Congress (APC), Commodore Emmanuel Jekada said, “we thank you for your kind gesture on your last visit to the state to commemorate with Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai over the victims of train attack.
“We thank you for support to the state.”
