The President of the United Church of Christ in Nigeria (HEKAN), Reverend Dr. Amos Kiri has called on participants at

the HEKAN 56th Annual National Convention, the Christian Community and all Nigerians to be security conscious especially as the county is facing its trying moments in the area of security.

Reverend Dr. Amos Kiri

Dr. Kiri said that security is everyone’s business and all hands must be on deck to defeat enemies of peace.
He stated this while declaring open the 56th HEKAN Annual National Convention with the theme, “Prepare For Eternity” John 14:2-3
“We are all aware that we live in a time of great security concern and distress, I urge you all to be Security conscious,” Kiri said.
“The scripture says, “Be very careful then, How you live, not as unwise but as wise because the days are evil. Therefore, report any unusual movement of persons or strange faces to security agencies for prompt action,” he added.
On the convention’s theme, “Prepare for Eternity”  Reverend Amos Kiri said that it is the Lord Jesus Christ speaking to believers, redeemed and saved about his second coming and eternity, which will only come after prophecies are fulfilled.
Delivering the opening charge, Rev. Dauda Anto of HEKAN DCC Lagos spoke on the need for every believer to prepare for eternity.
He took his reading from the book of John Chapter 14 verses one to three, which encourages believers not to be grilled by fear, but to believe strongly in Jesus Christ who is the author and finisher of our faith.
Reverend Dauda noted that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ, will be delivered from fear, persecution and other troubles of life.
He enjoined Christians to remain firm in their faith, despite all the negative happenings around.
The HEKAN 56th Convention drew participants from across HEKAN Churches nationwide.
