Hate Speech, Main Causes Of Violence – GPFN

Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, GPFN, a Non-Governmental Organization, has identified the use of hate speech as one of the major cause of violence in the society.

John Joseph Hayab and Sheikh Halliru Maraya made the observation while responding to questions on the causes of hate speech in a live Radio programme “Peace Arena” on Kaduna State Media Corporation, KSMC monitored in Kaduna.
They opined that the use of wisdom and excellent words during interactions would no doubt go a long way to reducing crisis in the society.
They called on politicians, religious and opinion leaders, to always use words that are appealing while addressing issues to avoid spreading falsehood and malice which at the end may cause crisis in the society.
 
The Global Peace Foundation Nigeria Northern Co-coordinators also challenged the media to always use clear words in their dissemination of information instead of ambiguous words to avoid miss representation of their facts and figures.
 
While proffering solutions on how to tackle the high rate of hate speech in the society, the two leaders advised the public to live according to the tenets of their religions and shun selfishness and ignorance.
 
Rev. Hayab and Sheikh Maraya pointed out that the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria has been proactive in championing the cause of peaceful coexistences within Kaduna State through its “One Family Under God” Campaign.
Earlier, the anchor of the programme, Sule Innocent said the one-hour programme “Peace Arena” was designed to promote peaceful co-existence and religious tolerance in Kaduna State and the country as a whole.
