Hajj: NAHCONbeats deadline, completes airlift of 22, 435 pilgrims

Barely a week to the closure of the entry points  into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj exercise, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, (NAHCON) said the leading air-carriers FLYNAS AIR SERVICES contracted for the airlift of Nigerian pilgrims has successfully completed the in-bound journey.
The announcement of the completion of the airlift is contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi at the weekend by the representative and official agent of the carrier in Nigeria, Alhaji Umar Kalla.
According to Him, over twenty two thousand four hundred and thirty five pilgrims were successfully airlifted and currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the feat was achieved in a total number of sixty three flights schedule across eight designate centers in Nigeria.
He further stated that if not for the delays experienced, the operation would have been completed before now.
“We have provided seven functional airplanes that could have finished the job earlier than now, but for visas and pilgrims allowances that were not ready in some places, and we have to be patient and wait until when the problems were sorted out, but all along we have meet up with the dateline given to us by Saudi authorities.” Kalla added.
Kalla Umar who further said that FLYNAS operated from eight designated centers namely Abuja, Bauchi, Gombe, Maiduguri, Yola, Minna and Ilorin disclosed that arrangement have been concluded for the return of the pilgrims of the these centers from September 18th 2016.
