Gunmen today abducted the Chairman House Committee on Education of Kaduna State House of Assembly at his residence in Abakpa community of Kaduna North Local Government area of the state.
The Lawmaker Ibrahim Samails currently represents Tudun Wada Constituency in the State Assembly.
Eye witnessed account explained that the kidnappers came in a Sienna Car and within few seconds another gang joined them and whisked the lawmaker away.
“The kidnappers armed with sophisticated weapons, shot at a vehicle of a satchet water vendor who is a passerby, thinking that, he wanted to block them,” he said.
They kidnapped him at his residence in Abakwa and they were said to have trailed him to the house.
Ibrahim, a member of the ruling political party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) was elected lawmaker during the 2015 general elections and presently he is the House Chairman on Education.
“Ibrahim’s abductors, were said to have contacted his immediate family and they threatened them not to involve police in the matter, but make every effort to pay whatever ransom they are demanding.” A family source said.
The source added, Ibrahim has gotten in touch with his wife through the kidnappers but he was said to have warned her not to involve police in the matter.
Effort to speak with Kaduna State Police Command Public Relations Officer ASP Aliyu Usman proved abortive as he didn’t answer his call.
It would be recalled that a prominent individuals, politicians, businessmen, religious leaders have been kidnapped in the state of recent.
Kidnapping incidents have been on the increase in the state, but this is the first time someone would be kidnapped within the heart of the city centre and in his residence.
