Gunmen abduct Reverend, 2 others in Kaduna

There was confusion in Kaduna Tuesday when a Reverend Father and two other Church members were abducted by unknown gunmen in the state.
It was gathered that those abducted were President of the Kaduna based United Church of Christ in Nigeria, Rev. Emmanuel Dziggau and members of his church.
General Secretary of the Church Reverend Jibrailu Wobiya  confirmed the abduction, saying  Reverend  Dziggau and some members were at the area to clear the crusade ground in  preparation to their forthcoming Church programme when the gunmen stormed the site and took three of them away.
According to him, the suspected kidnappers are demanding N100 million ransom before they will release the Reverend and the other two Church members.
He added that himself and few others were lucky to have escaped into the bush while the three men were whisked away by the gunmen.
Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kaduna State branch Chairman, Reverend George Dodo confirmed the incident to newsmen in the state.
According to him, he also heard of the unfortunate incident this afternoon (Tuesday).
He however called on security agencies to do all they could to unmask the perpetrators of the crime.
“Government should put in motion all its security apparatus to ensure the liberation of those abducted,” he said.
The three men were kidnapped at their Church crusade ground along Kaduna-Abuja highway Monday morning according to reports.
The gunmen who were said to have wore masks before storming the crusade ground of the Church and abducted the clergy man and the members of the Church while other Church members managed to escape.
Also, spokesman for the Northern States Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Josesph Hayab has condemned the abduction. He called on the kidnappers to release the three men unconditionally or be prepared to incur the wrath of God.
Hayab, also called on security agencies to move into action and free the abductees from captivity.
Kaduna Police command spokesperson DSP Zubairu Abubakar couldn’t be reached for comments.
