The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Adamawa State has declared former Acting Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as the party’s flag bearer for the 2019 election.
Alhaji Adamu Shuaibu Kwabula, chairman of the Returning officer of the gubernatorial Electoral panel, made the announcement Monday morning following Sundays primaries.
According to him, Fintiri score a total of 1,656 votes, defeating four other contestants.
Ambassador Jammel Abubakar Zubairu got 465 votes, Barristar Bala James Nggilari 76 votes, Barristar Aliyu Ahmed 8 votes and Dr.Umar Ardo got 1 vote respectively.
Kwabula maintained that all the electoral guidelines were followed strictly to arrived at the end result of the exercise.
Fintiri in his address, commended the delegates and stakeholders of the party for confidence reposed on him, pledging to carry all along in the event they form the next government.
He vow to ensure good governance and restore dignity of labour with better condition of service to the workers in the state.
It could be recalled that earlier on Sunday, before the commencement of the primaries, three aspirants had withdrawn from the exercise.
Dr.Umar Ardo, Former Deputy Governor Sa’ad M.C Tahir and Adamu Muazu Modibbi all accused the party of not providing a level playing ground for the exercise.
With their withdrawal, Former Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Barrister Aliyu Ahmed ,Ambassador Jameel Zubair and Former Governor Bala James Nggilari were left to slug it out.
