Group calls for cease-fire of hostilities between two Bauchi APC camps

A Bauchi-based political pressure group, Democratic Enlightenment Initiative (DEI) has counseled members of the National Assembly representing Bauchi State to pitch camp with Governor Mohammed Abubakar and work for the common of people of the state.
The Group noted the political skirmishes raging between the NASS Bauchi members, and the Governor is a retrogressive step that tends to retard envisioned growth and development under a democratic dispensation.
The organization in a press statement in Bauchi Monday signed by its chairman and secretary, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim and Comrade Umar Danladi Shehu Azare respectively, called for a cease-fire in the on-going hostilities between the two camps of Bauchi and Abuja-based politicians.
Group chairman and secretary, while observing that peace is pre-requisite for any meaningful development, said unless the two political camps do away with the current media war between them, the much-needed democracy dividends will continue to eludes the people of the state.
The also commended Governor Mohammed Abubakar for the recent award of contract for the reconstruction of about 200 kilometers of roads across the state, while the on-going Misau – Gamawa road and the CBN Roundabout – Railway road reached appreciable stage of reconstruction.
Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim hailed the Bauchi state government for compensation payment to owners of houses destroyed to dualize a large segment of the CBN Roundabout – Railway road which contract for reconstruction was awarded five months ago.
The statement specifically thumped for Governor Mohammed Abubakar for making the best use of bailout funds provided the state for the settlement of backlog of workers’ salaries, against other states in the federation that allegedly diverted the facility.
It noted with delight the successful conduct of the just concluded Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia where Bauchi pilgrims were provided decent accommodations close to Masjid Haram, and urged the state government not to relent efforts in facilitating hitch-free exercise in future.
Ibrahim then appealed to the people to exercise patience on the current recession which, he noted, is a global phenomenon and enjoined them to continue offering prayers for God in His infinite mercy salvage citizens and indeed entire Nigerians from the shackles of want, poverty and hunger.
At the Bauchi Office of the Democratic Enlightenment Initiative (DEI) situated at Ganjuwa along Jahun street in the metropolis, its secretary, Umar Danladi Shehu Azare implored upon voluntary organizations to assist the state government through the execution of communal projects for the people.
Comrade Umar Danladi Azare disclosed that the group has completed arrangement to undertake enlightenment tour on policies and programmes of the state government across the twenty local government areas of the state.
