Over 1.5 million Muslims in Ondo State are protesting the continuous dominance of governorship seat by the Christians since the creation of the state 40 years ago.
Addr a Press Conference addressedssing a Press Conference in Akure, the Chairman, National Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Ondo State chapter, Imam Habibullah Akinpelu lamented the marginalisation of the Muslims by the ”Political class”.
According to him, political gladiators had consistently denied Muslims of juicy political posts not for want of competency, but because of the religious inclination which they had made as a law that Muslims cannot rule the state.
Akinpelu noted that Muslims in Ondo State had graciously supported the military and democratic administrations by making sacrifice to ensure peace and development of the state at every slightest opportunity.
While pledging their absolute support for any political partry that will give a balanced Christain/Muslim or Muslim/Christain ticket during the coming election, they threatened to aggressively mobilise to reject any one that would undermine their position at the November 26, governorship election.
Akinpelu also reiterated their readiness to reject any political arrangement short of balance ticket as an effort to put an end to the political misfortunes in Ondo state where bonafide citizens are treated as second class.
The NSCIA, he said, ”salute the steadfastness of Muslims in their prayers to ensure peace reign in Ondo and a Muslim Governor is sworn in by February 23, 2017.
