Governor Mai Mala Buni has reiterated his government’s commitment towards implementing lofty and commendable policies and programmes for the promotion of healthcare services already put in place in the state.
The Governor stated this on Tuesday while flagging off the first round of Maternal New Born and Child Health Week combined with intensified integrated MNCHW outreach services which took place at the Emir of Damaturu’s Palace.
The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana said that the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week (MNCHW) is a bi-annual event approved by the National Council on Health (NCH) during it’s 53 meeting held in Asaba, Delta State.
Idi Barde said the aim is intended to improve effectiveness and efficiency in delivering qualitative MNCHW services and ensuring effective utilization of other health interventions in an integrated approach in Nigeria and Yobe State in particular towards achieving optimum results in healthcare delivery service indicator.
He maintained that the goal of the Maternal Newborn Child Health Week is to achieve at least 90 per cent coverage in all interventions during the week.
According to the Deputy Governor, the state government will intensify efforts towards formulation of new strategies to curtail the situation and prevent them all together.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Alhaji Hamidu said the MNCH will provide the opportunity to reach out to all the communities and settlements including underserved and hard to reach areas with immunization and other critical health services.
