*condoles CP Wakili, family members over death of nonagenarian

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has commiserated with his Special Adviser on Security Matters and famous former Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Wakili (Rtd), over the demise of his father, Buba Turakin Jamnati( Wakilin Doka) who died in the early hours of today, Sunday, February 6, 2022 in Gombe, after a protracted illness.

Governor Inuwa, who attended the funeral prayer ( Janazah) held at the Modibbo Bubayero Juma’at Mosque, Emir’s Palace, Gombe, stated in his condolence message, that the demise of Buba Turakin Jamnati was a great loss, not only to his immediate family but Gombe State and the nation as a whole.
The late Wakilin Doka was an astute administrator, crack police detective and Preventive Supritendant in the Nigerian Custom who worked tirelessly for the peace and progress of Nigeria.
Governor Inuwa said the late nonagenarian community leader was one of the first generation unsung heroes who will surely be remembered for his disciplinary disposition and exemplary leadership.
The Governor, on behalf of the Government and people of Gombe State, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the entire members of the bereaved family and Gombe Emirate Council over the great loss, praying Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Aljannat Firdaus.
Born in 1927 in Gombe, the late Baba Wakili as he was fondly called, started his early education at Elementary School, Gombe between 1938 to 1942 and proceeded to Middle School Bauchi from 1942 to 1946.
He also attended British Council Course in the Institute of Administration, Zaria between 1953 to 1954 before he started his working career as a Forest Guard with the defunct Gombe Native Authority (NA) in 1946.
The late Wakilin Doka later became a Pupil Teacher at Gombe Elimentary School from 1950 to 1951; Librarian at Gombe NA in 1951 ; Store Keeper at Gombe NA Dispensary from 1952 to 1953. He briefly served as Accountant, Agric Department at Gombe NA in 1953. He was enlisted into Basic Police Course at Police College, Kaduna in 1957 (as Dan-Doka – Native Authority Police), and became the Wakilin-Doka under Gombe NA from 1957 to 1964.
Late Buba Turaki Jamnati left the NA Police before the 1st police reform and joined the Nigerian Custom Service as one of the pioneers and participated in the Basic Customs Course in Lagos in 1964. He came out as Assistant Preventive Supritendant, Nigerian Custom Service in 1965. Late Buba Turaki rose to the rank of Deputy Preventive Supritendant, Nigerian Custom Service between 1965 to 1975 before he eventually retired from active service.
After his retirement, late Buba Jamnati worked briefly in private sector, Challaram Industrial Limited, Kano from 1976 to 1994 before he relocated back home to Gombe.
