Governor Darius presents N110B 2017 Budget

Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has presented N110.2 Billion budget for 2017 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly Thursday.
He said out of the estimate, the sum of N 49.3 billion was for recurrent expenditure while the sum of N 60.8 billion was for capital expenditure.
Governor Darius explained that the budget will be financed  through federal statutory allocation for which  the sum of N35.3 billion was expected to be receive while the sum of N10 billion from value added tax .
He said the sum of of N15 billion was expected to be generated through internal revenue while N28 billion was expected as refund from federal government  for the funds spent on reconstruction of federal government roads by the state.
Governor Darius explained that  agriculture, education, construction of rural roads and supply of hospital equipment would be  given top priority next year.
He said with current recession in the country effort will be made to improve on collection of local revenue and also all financial leakages will blocked.
The governor however  called on the house to give a speedy passage of the budget in order to allow for its implementation.
In his address Speaker of the House, Peter Diah commended the governor for his zeal to improve the lives of citizens of the state.
He assured the governor that the Assembly is  prepared  to give the budget adequate attention and speedy passage.
