Governor Badaru Abubakar, the state Speaker, Hon Idris Jahun alongside federal lawmakers were absent at the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) state Congress held on Saturday at Aminu Kano Triangle in Dutse.
Local Committee Chairman of the congress, Hon. Lawal Yunusa Danzomo who defended the absence of the personalities as usual, said that Governor Badaru was unavoidably absence due to national engagement and was represented by his deputy, Alh. Umar Namadi, so also the Speaker was represented by the Majority Leader, Hon. Habu Ahmed Maigatari.
Absence of the state machinery has raised a lot of dust on the minds of the party followers, suspecting that this unwholesome trend might not be unconnected with “I don’t care attitude” of the personalities due to poor representation of the party’s outgoing excos.
The congress supervised and presided over by a seven-man electoral committee sent by the national secretariat of the ruling party from Abuja was headed by Alh Haruna Musa was affirmed on concensus as earlier adopted by the party faithful and leaders of the 287 wards across the 27 councils in Jigawa State.
Those affirmed are Aminu Sani Gumel as Chairman, Nasir Dahiru Jahun, State Deputy Chairman, Mannir Uba Gumel, Vice Chairman North, Isa Baba Buji, Vice Chairman Central, and Ango Abdullahi, Vice Chairman East.
Gumel until his new position, was the immediate past Chairman of Gumel Local Government Council and the state ALGON Chairman.
In his post election speech, Aminu Sani Gumel assured of transparent and committed leadership.
“We vow to run inclusive governance that will carry everyone along in our quest for the progress and development of our great party,” he said.
He called for support, cooperation, hardwork and dedication from members among other executives, to collectively forge ahead.
Other affirmed state exco.members included Muhammad Umar Dikuma, State Secretary, Sa’adu Babandi, Assistant Secretary, Musa Kwalgwai, Treasurer, Sarki Kafinta, Assistant Treasurer, Bashir A. Kundi, Publicity Secretary, and Ado Aliyu, Assistant Publicity Secretary.
Similarly, Hajia Abu S. Fawa emerged Organising Secretary, Garba Muhammad, Assistant Organising, Secretary, Ibrahim Yau Gagarawa, Youth Leader, Shehu Muhammad Birnin Kudu, Assistant Youth Leader, Dayyaba Shuaibu, Women Leader, Adamu Haruna, Auditor, as well as four ex- officio, among others.
