Gov. Sani Bello Enlists NASS Support For State Owned Tertiary Educational Institutions

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has enlisted the support of the National Assembly to financially empower the Tertiary Education Task Fund, (TETFUND) to assist states owned tertiary institutions in realising their mandates for the overall development of the country.
Governor Bello told visiting members of the House of Representatives Committee on Tertiary Education that Niger state has alot projects and programmes proposals for it’s higher institutions of learning which would require the federal government’s interventions hence his plea to the federal lawmakers as he would be approaching them cap in hand regularly.
The Governor made the appeal at the Government House while hosting members of the House of Representatives Committee on Tertiary Education led by its Chairman, Hon. Aminu Suleiman who were on a working visit to the state.
The House Committee members were on oversight function visit to tertiary educational institutions in the state and had made a brief stop over to pay a courtesy visit on the Governor.
He told them that his administration has lined up some far reaching, people oriented projects and programmes on education which would require the support of the National Assembly to push it forward for federal government’s intervention.
“For us in Niger state, we have a lot of developmental and people oriented projects and programmes that will require the support of our Lawmakers at the national level to help us push them upward” he said.
He implored members of the House Committee at the lower chamber of the National Assembly to assist the state to enable it actualise it’s development aspirations for the benefits of humanity.
The Governor stressed the need for the committee to play pivotal role in assisting state owned tertiary institutions to secure the needed financial support from the Tertiary Education Task Fund, (TETFUND) particularly in the area of infrastructural development, research and development in states owned higher institutions of learning.
Governor Bello told his guests that his administration lays a lot of emphasis on education hence the ongoing renovation of secondary schools across the state in order to fix the infrastructural decay in public schools.
Chairman, House Committee on Tertirary Education, Hon. Suleiman had earlier expressed the readiness of his committee to support institution of higher learning in the state.
“We are looking into all the institutions of higher learning in the state. Our committee is here to look at the challenges faced by these institutions and make recommendations appropriatly he assured.
He assured that the committee would assist the state in realising it’s vision for it’s tertiary educational institutions.
